BC is allowing the logging of primary forest for pellets. This has to stop.
The Millions of Tons of Carbon Emissions That Don’t Officially Exist
Europe Met a Climate Target. But Is It Burning Less Carbon?
The rapid onslaught of converting our primary forests into wood pellets (biofuel) is not “green energy”. The use of wood pellets as a substitute for coal to generate electricity puts out more CO2 per BTU than coal when combusted, and its accounting for greenhouse contribution is seriously flawed. In addition, the use of whole logs as source material for industrial use wood pellets is not ecologically sound for it robs the forests of carbon and undermines forest ecological processes and biodiversity.
