Thank you for your follow-up email sent on June 12, 2020, regarding B.C.’s carbon tax. We appreciate you taking the time to write.

Be advised that any change to the application of carbon tax to slash pile burning would require an amendment to the Carbon Tax Act. Generally, tax changes are introduced as part of the provincial budget and are not announced in advance of the budget. Broad, public announcements regarding tax changes allow affected businesses and households to learn about the tax changes in a fair and equal manner. For these reasons, your question regarding legislative drafting cannot be answered at this time.
